About The RoleThe Manager Strategic Properties will provide strategic and operational leadership for the City of Greater Geelong's property portfolio.
Reporting to the CEO for the first 12 months, and subsequently to the Executive Director City Infrastructure, this senior leadership role is responsible for optimising property assets, overseeing acquisitions, disposals, and leasing, and ensuring alignment with broader City objectives to support service delivery and long-term growth.Work type: Temporary Full Time – 5 year contractClassification: SPL - $217,005 plus superannuation.Key responsibilities include:Develop and maintain a strategic understanding of the Council's property portfolio to inform decision-making and optimise service delivery.Manage property acquisitions, disposals, and asset recycling to align with Council's financial strategy and achieve commercial goals.Oversee the delivery of property projects, ensuring successful outcomes through effective project management.Provide expert advice to the Mayor, Councillors, CEO, and service managers on property-related matters.Lead the development and continuous improvement of property management policies, processes, and standards to drive efficiency.Manage departmental budgets, balancing operational and strategic priorities while ensuring financial sustainability.Build and maintain strong relationships within the organisation, the community, and with external stakeholders.Lead property-related projects, ensuring effective contract negotiation, procurement, and risk management.Prepare reports, submissions, and business cases to support Council's decision-making and long-term planning.Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures while representing the organisation in strategic property discussions.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in property management or related discipline with experience in leading strategic reviews of services or portfolios that result in strong financial outcomes.Essential Experience:Experience in the acquisition, disposal, and management of property assets, ensuring alignment with financial strategies and best commercial outcomes.Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead property-related projects, manage contracts, negotiate agreements, and oversee procurement and risk management.Experience providing high-level advice and guidance to executive leadership, elected officials, and senior stakeholders on property management and strategic asset planning.Ability to lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of policies, procedures, and systems that support best-practice property management.Strong ability to analyse complex property-related challenges, develop innovative solutions, and drive effective decision-making.Child Safety ResponsibilitiesWe are committed to being a child-safe organisation and have zero-tolerance for child abuse.
