We are seeking an Ongoing Full-time After-Hours Support Worker based in Lismore NSW
Position Purpose
This position is situated within the MacKillop National After Hours Services Unit which is responsible for providing high quality residential care that supports the emotional, social and behavioral care needs of vulnerable young people.
The After Hours Support Worker is a member of the MacKillop National After Hours Services Unit and reports to the After Hours Support Worker Coordinator.
Primary Objectives
Support staff in providing ‘best practice’ care that meets the day-to-day needs of young people whilst delivering high quality outcomes for all young people and their families.
Participate in team meetings with the National After Hours Support Worker Team and other forums as required.
Key Result Areas and Responsibilities
The After Hours Support Worker will:
1. Contribute to the development of a safe and nurturing environment for young people;
2. Assist young people to develop independent living skills;
3. Protect and respect the rights of young people;
4. Safeguard the wellbeing of young people and report any concerns immediately;
5. Support young people to remain connected to the significant people and places in their lives;
Key Selection Criteria
The incumbent will have:
1. A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
2. Experience in youth services or residential care;
3. Ability to relate to and work with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties;
4. Ability to implement behaviour management plans for young people with challenging behaviours;

You must have a:
* Valid and current Driver’s License.
* Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
* Valid Employee Working with Children Check.
