The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.Project scope includes:Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each directionCivil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnelsSurface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah FreewayIn line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for a TBM (Slurry Shield) Senior Project Engineer to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project.Specific Tasks IncludeOversee the daily operations of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) to ensure efficiency and safety.Lead a team of TBM Engineers, providing guidance and support to achieve project goals.Develop and implement detailed plans and schedules for TBM activities.Monitor TBM performance, identifying and addressing any issues promptly.Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies.Coordinate with other Engineers, key stakeholders, and departments to ensure seamless integration of TBM operations with overall project timelines.Resource Planning: Labour & Plant - periodically review resource requirements based on current Construction Program and defined construction methodology.Cost Forecasting and review Process (Month End Reporting) - responsible for undertaking formal review on a monthly basis of the financial status for each cost code within your scope of works & completing relevant financial status reports.Prepare and present reports on TBM progress, performance, and any incidents to senior management.Required Skills and CompetenciesQualifications and ExperienceRelevant Tertiary QualificationsVast experience with TBM Tunnelling in direct delivery / Management roles;Prior experience working with slurry / mixshield TBM’sExperience and knowledge of Slurry Treatment Plant operation and mud management;Experience with and participation in hyperbaric TBM cutterhead maintenance operationsTeam player, great communicator and passion to mentor and develop aspiring Tunnel Engineers and Supervisors;ACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023 & 2024 certification in Australia, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
