The Role: Support the Nurse Unit Manager in overseeing and managing the daily, after-hours operations of the Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU), ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maintaining a high standard of patient care. Identify and report clinical risks within MHIU, and collaborate with the Nurse Unit Manager and other healthcare team members to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of risk mitigation strategies. Participate in Quality & Safety and WHS processes, including developing safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding vulnerable people, and related training. Coordinate patient/client centred care delivery and flow. You will need: Demonstrated clinical experience in the relevant practice area, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative, and work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the unit/service in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including an understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation, and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures, and protocols. Demonstrated time management and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise clinical and administrative tasks within a busy environment subject to work pressure and change. Proven commitment to teamwork, together with advanced interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and the ability to lead, manage conflict, and work effectively with a multidisciplinary team in the planning and coordination of clinical care for patients. The Team: The Mental Health Inpatient Unit is located in the Royal Hobart Hospital, level 2 and 3K West. MHIU sits under the Mental Health Department (MHD) within the Statewide Mental Health Services' Acute Care Stream and supports adults with serious mental illness across multiple locations, serving southern Tasmania. Details of appointment: Permanent, full time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. *Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies. Salary: $103,466 to $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023. You'll have access to a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum. Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available. Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type. Benefits available to eligible candidates: Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees.
