To learn more please visit www.serco.com/ahsc About The Role As a Dental Assistant, you'll play a vital role in providing chair-side assistance to our Dentist, Dental Specialist, or Hygienist during the delivery of dental services to our valued patients. Your responsibilities encompass a diverse range of tasks aimed at ensuring smooth operations within the dental practice while upholding the highest standards of patient care. Provide chair-side assistance to the dental practitioner during dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times. Perform administrative tasks including accurately entering and updating patient records, scheduling appointments, and assisting with other duties as delegated by the Dentist. Actively promote oral health education to patients, advocating for optimal hygiene practices and preventive care measures. Support the dental team in various activities, maintaining compliance with all relevant standards, regulations, and procedures. Contribute to the cleanliness and sterilization of dental instruments and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols to ensure a hygienic environment. Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, fostering a supportive and cohesive work environment to deliver the highest standard of care to our patients. The Location Robertson Health Centre is located on Robertson Barracks in Holtze, 15km east of Darwin. It is home to the 1st Brigade & 1st Aviation Regiment. The facility has a routine dependency of approximately 2800 members, with a large reserve component. The Barracks also accommodates an additional 2500 US marines every 6 months from May to September. The health centre provides primary medical, aviation medical, nursing, pharmaceutical, dental, physiotherapy and mental health services. It also operates a 22-bed low dependency ward 24/7. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts). About You As the ideal applicant you will have: A minimum of 2 years (full-time equivalent) experience within the last 5 years in a dental assisting role. Recent engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to stay updated with industry standards and best practices. Current certifications in First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009), ensuring preparedness for emergency situations. Possession of a Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent nationally recognized qualification, demonstrating proficiency in dental assisting duties. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care within a dental surgery setting. Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance.
