An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Capital Projects Team and provide engineering services as Boral continues our Good to Great journey. You will primarily be accountable for investigating, designing, and providing effective engineering support to the Major Capital Projects Project Managers.
With a focus on front end mechanical design and scoping work, you will support the design and delivery of new capital equipment across Boral’s construction materials portfolio including equipment for quarries, concrete plants, asphalt plants and cement facilities including alternative fuel systems.
Reporting to the Principal Mechanical Engineer, this is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at Berrima NSW.
Your day will involve:
1. Problem investigation and analysis enabling conceptual solutions to be prepared and progressed for Borals Major Projects portfolio.
2. Estimating, evaluation costing and design as well as monitoring and reporting on progress of engineering scope.
3. Sizing of process equipment including material handling, and logistics concepts for transport, storage and production capacity.
4. Site investigation - definition of necessary measures in co-ordination with a nominated plant responsible for process requirements.
5. Preparation of Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents through to pre-qualification of suppliers and evaluation of technical tenders.
6. Project management for studies and investments focused on design aspects for project scope.
7. Assessment and approval of drawings from internal and external sources.
What are we looking for?
8. Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated experience within a heavy industrial site.
9. Experience of process equipment, handling systems and operating conditions and typical design problems of old equipment
10. Experience in design for industrial investment projects and knowledge of equipment/service costs, material handling for capital project estimation.
11. Experience in development of CFT documents
12. Experience with the use of design software (AUTOCAD, INVENTOR, Microsoft Project)
13. Ability to troubleshoot and commission industrial mechanical projects, resolve engineering issues and provide mechanical technical support to others delivering the implementation of the project.
