The Opportunity The Bacterial Respiratory Infectious Disease Group (BRIDG) has a major focus on ear and lung disease and aims to deliver strategies to prevent, diagnose and treat bacterial ear and lung infections to reduce the global burden of disease.
The BRIDG team is seeking a dynamic and motivated team player that is looking to level up on their R&D experience.
This position will involve conducting high quality translational science within a vibrant and fast-paced research team, including immunoassay development, molecular biology and microbial genomics for analysis of preclinical and clinical specimens.
You will be expected to conduct this work within a quality management framework that can be audited and, in some cases, transferred to contract research organisations.
Some of your duties will include but are not limited to:
Design and conduct laboratory experiments, analyse and interpret results.Refine and optimise laboratory protocols for tech transfer.Develop Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to Good Clinical Laboratory management.Contribute to funding applications, team projects.Assume responsibility for general lab maintenance as required (e.g.
ordering, waste runs, lab organisation, equipment needs).Supervise/ Mentor junior research staff and students and provide regular performance feedback.This role will be offered on a full-time basis for 12 months.
About You The successful applicant will hold a PhD in appropriate disciplines such as Microbiology, Immunology or Genomics.
Your application must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Ability to analyse and interpret data with a high level of competency using relevant software packages.A track record in research and publishing academic journal articles on relevant topics, including first author.Outstanding oral and written communication skills including evidence of academic writing (grants submissions/reports, ethics submissions/reports, and publications).Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.We are driving inclusion and diversity as part of the way we work and embrace the diverse career and life experiences of our staff.
