About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists to apply for a Talent Pool for Volunteer Engagement Officer Clerk Grade 5/6. The Talent Pool will remain active for 18 months, during this period you will be eligible for short- and long-term temporary opportunities with the possibility to be activated into an ongoing role if any become available. Please note we do not have a current vacancy this is for a Talent Pool only.
The role undertakes a diverse and inter-related tasks that assist the development of a diverse volunteer workforce capable of planning for and responding to major weather events for a sustainable duration, and the promotion of NSW SES as the agency of choice for volunteering.

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent. NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to save lives and protect communities.
While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.
About you
To be successful in this role you will:
* Have experience in volunteer management, along with a knowledge and understanding of volunteering practice.
* Be proficient in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, internal and external
* Be able to plan and prioritise your workload and communicate effectively
* Engage directly with communities to understand how they might want to volunteer and implement volunteering pathways to attract and recruit new volunteers to the NSW SES
