Staff Specialist / Senior Staff Specialist Anatomical Pathologist Seeking the best suited applicant to join our team of highly competent Medical Professionals based in Anatomical pathology Cairns. This role will assist in developing and implementing frameworks and strategies to continue the development of the state-wide Anatomical Pathology service as a single functional entity based on universal best practice and reflected through uniform standards and practices. In Cairns, a locality allowance and rural retention and attraction allowance also apply (5% of base salary) to form the total salary. The Cairns Laboratory is located in the Cairns Hospital – the largest major referral hospital in Far North Queensland and located just mere steps from the ocean. Key competencies (role specific criteria) Demonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills and ability in Anatomical Pathology, participate in the frozen section service, perform MDTs, and be able to participate in an after-hours on call roster, and a high level of professionalism required in the position, especially objectivity. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills necessary for all aspects of the position. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct relevant training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis and management. Knowledge of the ISO 15189 and NATA Medical Testing Requirements demonstrating continued accreditation in your clinical specialty for all laboratories across a diverse network. Qualifications, registrations and other requirements Mandatory requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in Anatomical Pathology (FRCPA, or equivalent) and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist. The incumbents must be Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent.
