What's the role? Reporting to the Head of Vision at the country's most prestigious masthead, The Australian, the video producer will be responsible for creating compelling video content. The opportunity to work on news-breaking and agenda-setting storytelling is one that offers the producer experience for real growth in a newsroom. This role offers the chance to create content for both on- and off-platform, contributing to the breaking of major news stories and shaping the national conversation. You'll be joining a small, dynamic team of storytellers, producing both short and long-form videos. This includes scripting, shooting, and editing, with plenty of room for creativity and professional growth. We're looking for someone with at least three years of experience, who is eager to grow and make their mark in the newsroom, and who stays on top of both domestic and international news trends. Responsibilities - Creation and delivery of audience focused video content. - Develop content ideas, research, scripting and editing. - Contribute to increased audience growth, measured in total views and engagement time. - Subscriber growth in key market segments. - An understanding of social media trends, particularly around key news events. Who are you? - Demonstrated previous experience working in a newsroom environment. - 3 years experience in using Premiere Pro. - 3 years experience of using mirrorless/video cameras. - Proficient in key Adobe programs such as After Effects and Photoshop. - Proficient in cloud based editing tools such as canva. - Understanding of political landscape in Australia and abroad. - Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal). - Stakeholder Management : Proficiency in nurturing enduring relationships and collaborating with team members. - Agility: The ability to pivot and change direction in an ever-changing newsroom. - Prioritisation : Effectively managing time and resources to prioritise tasks based on deadlines and importance. - Autonomy: Possess the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, work independently in different environments, and navigate complexities autonomously when required.
