About the team
The Police Advisory Branch provides legal services, strategic advice and representation to the Chief Commissioner of Police and, by extension, all Victoria Police personnel across the State. The branch is involved in a diverse range of matters, including but not limited to:
7. Police duties, powers and responsibilities;
8. Criminal law, criminal disclosure obligations and criminal procedure;
9. Statutory interpretation;
10. Administrative law, privacy and information sharing;
11. Responding to subpoenas, including making public interest immunity claims;
12. Intervention order applications and summary prosecutions.

About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join our Branch as part of the legal support team that provides efficient and effective administrative support to a team of solicitors within the branch.
The team of solicitors work across varied areas of law and in this role you will play a key role in assisting them in preparing matters for hearings and to run their practices. No two days will be the same and you will enjoy a diverse workload, where you'll have the opportunity to contribute in a collaborative, fast passed and engaging professional team.
Key responsibilities include the preparation of correspondence and court documents; amending and formatting of those documents as well as file management of all legal files in electronic format and managing hard copy documents. Collating e-briefs to counsel. Redacting large volume of documents; Liaising with both internal and external clients as required. Delivery of material to client, courts and barristers and all general administrative tasks including printing, photocopying and scanning.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will preferably have previous legal support experience in a litigation environment, however, we are keen to hear from candidates with demonstrated experience in performing a range of high level administrative support duties in a professional services environment.
