The Veterinary Officer will join PIRSA’s Emergency AnimalDisease (EAD) Preparedness team to work on developing regionalpreparedness plans for EAD response in South Australia
The position is open to new or recent veterinary sciencegraduates, through to those with any level of experience in thisfield. The training and support available for the role can beadapted to suit your individual development needs and level ofprior experience in the field. So, if you’re passionate abouta career in veterinary public health we can offer the support andtraining necessary to help you develop in the field and succeed inthis role.
What will I do on a day-to-day basis?
The Veterinary Officer is a regionally based role working withPIRSA staff, the livestock industry and other government agenciesat a local level to build strong networks with local knowledge thatincreases the likelihood of successful EAD response.
The role will work within regional communities to build trustand awareness of emergency animal disease. Core to this role is todevelop region-specific strategies for EAD response and build thelocal community capacity in EAD preparedness and response. The rolewill develop and deliver industry- and region-specific EADawareness and preparedness materials and training, covering diseasedetection, prevention, exercising, monitoring and reporting.
You will work with colleagues in the EAD Preparedness Team andother areas of PIRSA Animal Biosecurity to apply EAD policies andprocedures to the regional and local level.

Requirements
6. Essential: Degree in veterinary science (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent)
7. Desirable: Demonstrable experience in emergency animal disease preparedness response
8. Desirable: Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive

$85,665 pa - $94,801 per annum
