Senior Project Officer, Research and Evaluation Canberra ACT
The Research Strategy section is newly established with a goal to deepen connections with the research community and support greater evidence-based policy development and evaluation for work health and safety and workers' compensation.
The Senior Project Officer, Research and Evaluation, plays a critical role in supporting Safe Work Australia's research, evaluation and engagement activities.
The position is responsible for delivering high-quality project outcomes, engaging effectively with stakeholders, and contributing to the translation of research and evaluation findings for work health and safety policy and program development.
The role requires the ability to manage simultaneous projects and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships.
The position contributes to advancing Safe Work Australia's strategic goals by fostering collaboration across the Agency and ensuring the delivery of impactful projects and programs.
The role may require occasional interstate/overnight travel.
The key duties of the position include: Deliver research, evaluation, and/or engagement activities that align with Safe Work Australia's strategic priorities.
Develop, implement, and monitor projects, including the analysis of data and/or reports to ensure robust and evidence-based project proposals.
Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support its research and evaluation objectives.
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Public Service (APS) processes, legislative requirements, and ethical standards in all activities.
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in research and evaluation practices in Safe Work Australia.
To be eligible for employment with SWA, you must be an Australian citizen and you will be required to successfully undergo a police record check.
The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Baseline level security clearance or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.

Experience: Demonstrated experience in the end-to-end delivery of research and/or evaluation projects, including planning, implementation, and reporting.
Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods and evaluation programs, analysis, and knowledge translation.
Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and engage with diverse groups to achieve shared objectives.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
Strong knowledge and experience of Commonwealth guidelines and legislative requirements relevant to grants, procurement and contract management, project management, and research and evaluation delivery.
Education (desirable): Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g.
public policy, social sciences, occupational health and safety, allied health, public health) will be highly regarded.
