About The Role The Authorised Officer (AO) works with the Customer Team to provide a high degree of Customer Service and ensure an informative, safe and friendly environment for V/Line Passengers and staff. The AO is responsible for the network's day-to-day safety, with a focus on minimising antisocial behaviour, particularly during late-night Friday and Saturday services and special events. AOs use their exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills to create a safe and smooth environment by responding to incidents, managing antisocial behaviour, and reporting fare non-compliance and behavioural offences under the Transport Act. Key Accountabilities include: Authorised Officers will be responsible for the day-to-day reporting of offences under the Transport Act Deterring anti-social behaviours including crime, vandalism and fare evasion by way of visible presence Report all offences detected and submit relevant reports in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring all reports are of the highest standard Provide a high degree of Customer Service to ensure an informative, safe and friendly environment for the V/Line passengers Assist management in preparing for and responding to operational incidents and emergency response. Our Authorised officers work on a rotating shift roster including late nights, weekend and public holidays. Our AOs work in teams of 3 or more with a Crew Leader. Shifts will start and end at the Geelong station. About You You take pride in the impact of your work and are passionate about providing safe access for customers and staff. You are resilient and thrive in high-pressure situations such as dealing with anti-social behaviour, incident response or emergency management incidents. You can make decisions quickly, often in stressful or unpredictable situations Ideally, you have prior exposure or experience in emergency management, conflict resolution or law enforcement. You have a strong customer service background and highly developed interpersonal skills. You enjoy working with the public and work well in a team environment. Prior experience in Police, Prison Officers or similar roles will be highly regarded. Highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills. Authorised officers are required to complete fingerprinting and a Fines Victoria check in addition to the normal pre-employment checks The expected start date for this role is late June or early July, with your initial training provided through MTM Trains Metro Academy. The start date is fixed as Authorised Officers are recruited and onboarded to meet timelines set by Metro Academy course start times.
