About the Job There is an exciting opportunity with the Building and Maintenance Team for a Building Maintenance Assistant. This position will provide trade support to the Building Maintenance Supervisor and will be required to undertake a range of activities principally repairing, maintaining and monitoring condition of Council building assets and infrastructure. Duties involve resolution of problems and use of judgement in circumstances requiring technical trade or specialist knowledge whilst acting under delegated authority. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Undertaking routine inspections of council buildings and infrastructure. Work and support successful tenders for construction works in the performance of their tender obligations as directed by the Property/Building Coordinator. Supervise and assist contract workers and volunteer workers as directed. This is a casual position working 25 hours per week. About you In order to succeed and thrive in this position, you must have: A trade certificate in carpentry or equivalent and relevant experience. Demonstrated ability to show initiative, be adaptable and deal effectively with trade related issues. Work autonomously.
