Queensland Academy for Health Sciences is offering an opportunity for a strengths-focused and dedicated Head of Department to lead curriculum development and training in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to ensure success in our shared educational vision focused on providing exceptional quality learning outcomes for all students. This dynamic position requires highly developed positive leadership expertise to: Nurture and support professional educators by developing a yearly IB Professional Development Plan; Lead and innovatively manage the IB Examination Program; Effectively line manage three Programme Coordinators in a supportive and collaborative learning culture.

About the Role The QAHS Head of Department - International Baccalaureate role focuses on supporting and collaborating with teaching professionals to ensure excellence in delivery of the International Baccalaureate's philosophy and guidelines. Your positive leadership expertise will enable you to:
Nurture and support professional educators by developing a yearly IB Professional Development Plan to ensure excellence in IB curriculum expertise;Lead and innovatively manage the IB Examination Programme including coordinating student exam registration and teacher assessment submissions in line with IBO timelines; build and maintain productive relationships with the IBO as the primary liaison contact to respond to requests from the IBO; and oversee the process of Student Enquiry Upon Results during the December/January school holiday period;Effectively line manage in a supportive and collaborative learning culture the CAS Coordinator, Extended Essay Coordinator and Debating Coordinator.As a member of the Leadership Team you will be integral in the delivery of a unique high-quality educational product and maintaining a supportive yet high-performance academic learning culture that responds to the needs of highly motivated students. In addition, the QAHS Head of Department - International Baccalaureate role supports the Academy Principal in the growth of strategic alliances with local and global institutions of excellence as well as being the primary liaison professional with the IBO to ensure the IB expertise of our teaching professionals is current in Syllabus developments and IB assessment practices.
You will also have the opportunity for leading the following activities and delivery of the following KPI's: Building and broadening the professional capacity of staff by delivering innovative workshops for staff on aspects of the Diploma Programme as part of our school's overall professional development expertise, including positive support for new staff in the staff induction program;Oversee Internal Assessment submissions including training and support for staff to ensure compliance with IBO requirements;Strategically coordinate actions by QAHS staff to support the cycle of 5 year IB Evaluations;Promote high-quality connections in line managing and supporting the CAS Coordinator, Extended Essay Coordinator and Debating Coordinator;Applicants with demonstrated knowledge, training and experience in the International Baccalaureate Programme together with an articulated understanding of the school's responsibilities as an IB World School will be highly regarded.
