As a fixed term part time position, this role would be ideal for anyone looking for some flexibility in their work arrangements while wanting to make a difference in their community.While employed as a Youth Justice Officer you will work alongside a dynamic team and under supervision to:Improve the safety, security and rehabilitation of young people in both the community and custody.Reduce youth offending through programs and services for young people on community-based orders, in custody, and to divert young people away from the criminal justice system.Manage the case coordination of young people who have offended and are subject to community-based orders, as well as young people identified as at "at risk" of offending.Provide services for young people in alignment with those mandated under the Young Offenders Act 1994.To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.Travel may be required to be undertaken so there is a requirement for Youth Justice Officers to drive vehicles (including 4WD) with manual transmissions and as such, a current manual driver's licence (class C) must be held when working across the State.
