The Chief Information Officer (CIO) Command is a trusted frontline partner that enables policing through problem solving and technical expertise and excellence. The CIO Command provides corporate application, ICT end to end solutions, advice, cyber security and infrastructure that underpin AFP activities. The CIO Command aims to be a highly collaborative, innovative, reliable and trusted enabler for all Commands across the AFP. The products and services delivered are user focused, secure and fit for purpose, while supported by a highly skilled, agile and resilient workforce. The CIO Command comprises of four branches; Technology Strategy and Data, Enterprise and Policing Systems, Chief Technology Officer and Cyber Security and Risk. The Cyber Security & Risk branch is seeking a talented Team Leader for its Cyber Platforms team. The Cyber Platforms Team is responsible for building and managing the platforms that underpin cyber security observability, monitoring, and detections across the AFP's ICT environment, maintaining the technical platforms and tooling used in Cyber Defence. The Cyber Platforms Team Leader will work alongside a cohort of Band 8 Team Leads to deliver Cyber Defence capabilities, reporting to the Coordinator Cyber Defence. As the successful candidate you will have a thorough understanding of enterprise ICT systems and applications, ideally with experience in system monitoring and security event log collection and processing. As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below. You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. What will you do? You will work closely with your peers within the Cyber Security & Risk Branch as well colleagues from across the CIO command. Leading engagement with AFP system owners and managers will be critical to the on-going success of the Cyber Platforms team's security collection effort. You will also: Lead the secure design, build, and sustainment of cyber security platforms to support the AFP’s Security Operations Centre (SOC) monitor, detect, and response capability. Contribute to the planning and delivery of cyber security capability uplift within the Cyber Security and Risk branch. Promote sound cyber security practices and processes within the Cyber Platforms team, among CIO colleagues, and the wider AFP. Provide mentorship and development opportunities within the Cyber Platforms team. Foster collaboration between teams within the Cyber Defence section and the broader CIO command providing a point of contact for system owner and system manager engagement. Build strategic relationships with external partners and vendors, conducting workshops as required. Work with the Cyber Defence leadership team to assess and improve process efficiencies. Essential Requirements You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application. A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team in the delivery of quality services and systems. Proven ability to develop and deliver work plans with strategic technical and business deliverables. Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of business and technical stakeholders. Desirable Requirements The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded: Experience in centralised security event log collection and monitoring processes and platforms. Relevant qualification or extensive experience in in Information Communication & Technology, Cyber Security, or Computer Science. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing process enhancement. Ability to contribute to reporting to management; written, analytical and statistical.
