Number of Positions Available:1 ABOUT US The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better.It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference.From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.Why this role is important The Salvation Army (Salvos) Mackay Corps is a Christian Church in the heart of the Mackay Region.We share the love of Jesus by caring for people, creating faith pathways, building healthy communities, and working for justice.Our faith convinces us that hope, purpose, and fulfillment can be everyone's story.Whether people are looking for connection, guidance, social support or community, Salvos will welcome you.About the role The primary purpose of the Community Engagement Worker is to lead the planning, implementation and facilitation of community development programs that respond to identified needs of the Mackay community and promote community engagement, with a focus on youth and school engagement.You Will Successfully Establish, manage, and contribute to programs and relational strategies that are responsive to local community desires in collaboration with the Area Leadership team, focusing on youth programs and school engagement, as well as TSA fundraising appeal events (i.e.Red Shield Appeal; and Christmas Appeal).Source funding opportunities and manage partnerships to ensure viability and sustainability of the Corps and its programs where required.Plan, implement, and evaluate community development and engagement activities that meet the local community members identified needs and wants, in line with service delivery objectives, TSA mission, policy, and procedure.Engage in The Salvation Local Mission Delivery by attending Area Leadership teams and produce a Local Mission Plan for the Corps.Analyse community needs based on data and observation and identify potential community development initiatives for The Salvation Army.Co-ordinate the provision of material aid through Doorways and the Corps and provide information and referral pathways to other TSA programs and community service providers.Support the engagement, recruitment and management of volunteers for programs as needed.Ensure hazards, near misses and incidents to participants, workers and TSA are identified, and brought to the attention of Line Management, and managed in accordance with TSA policies and procedures. You will have A relevant tertiary qualification or a minimum Certificate IV in community services or social work and substantial correlating experience.Demonstrated experience in facilitating community-based activities.Experience managing volunteers or employees.A QLD Working with Children (Blue Card) check is required prior to commencement.A current QLD Drivers Licence.
