We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Laboratory Technician to commence in January 2025 to support the delivery of the Science curriculum. The successful applicant will work with the laboratory manager to provide support and assistance to science teachers to ensure safe work practices in the school's science classrooms and laboratories. You will excel in this role if you have: Excellent knowledge of experiments and materials used in the school science curriculum. Proven ability to prioritise, demonstrate initiative, and take a proactive and flexible approach to tasks. Proven knowledge of the application of chemical and biological safety and demonstrated safe laboratory practices suited to a school environment in accordance with current regulations. Experience in the preparation of experiments and materials required for science practical demonstrations in a variety of scientific disciplines including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Proven ability to provide appropriate technical advice to support students and teachers. Understanding of the GHS system of labelling, storage, and disposal of chemicals. Proficiency in the use of RiskAssess – risk assessments for Australian schools. Certificate III Laboratory Skills, Diploma, or Degree. Hold a current 'Working with Children' Blue card. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, i.e., SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, OneNote, and RiskAssess. Patience when dealing with staff and students of differing abilities and ages. Demonstrated efficiency in time management whilst working independently and as a part of a team. At least 2 recent professional referees (including your current employer).
