As a company committed to operational excellence, safety, and innovation, we are looking for a dynamic and strategic Business Group Manager – Hire and Support to oversee our hire division. This role will be crucial in driving the sales strategy, managing client relationships, and ensuring the efficient operation of our hire fleet.
Position Overview:
The Business Group Manager – Hire and Support will be responsible for leading and managing all activities related to the hire division within the company. This includes optimising asset utilisation, driving business growth, and overseeing the hire fleet's operational readiness. You will work closely with the General Manager to develop and implement strategies that align with the company's objectives, ensuring profitability while meeting customer needs. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader with a strong background in the mining or heavy equipment sector to make a significant impact on the growth and success of Alfabs Mining Group.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Mining Equipment Hire and Support team, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
* Manage and develop a team of hire and sales professionals, ensuring that team objectives are met.
* Lead the execution of hire contracts, including negotiations and terms to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.
* Oversee costings, quotes, estimates, and tenders for hire fleet scopes.
* Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to meet division goals.
* Lead business development initiatives and identify new sales opportunities within the mining industry.
* Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of the hire fleet, coordinating with the maintenance team to minimise downtime.
* Cultivate strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
* Oversee the negotiation and management of hire and sales contracts.
* Continuously improve operational processes and identify opportunities for cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
* Contribute to the strategic planning of the Mining group and ensure alignment with the company's long-term goals.
* Assist in marketing initiatives, product awareness, and sales strategies to increase visibility and demand for hire and sales equipment.
Skills & Experience:
Qualifications:
* Qualification in underground coal mining
* Qualification in Business Management (Minimum Diploma level)
* Trade qualification (ideal)
* Current driver's license
Experience & Skills:
* Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in the mining or heavy equipment sector, with a focus on hire operations.
* Strong understanding of the mining equipment industry, including technical specifications and customer needs.
* Proven ability to lead sales teams, drive business growth, and manage operational functions in a competitive environment.
* Demonstrated success in managing teams and achieving performance goals in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
* Strong financial literacy, with experience managing budgets, forecasting performance, and optimising resource use.
* Familiarity with industry regulations and risk management processes.
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Proficient in business systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems)
