Thoroughbred experience is advantageous.Clean and maintain stables, quarantine/isolation units, tack/feed rooms, treatment areas, and manage waste disposal.Uphold biosecurity protocols, particularly in Hendra Isolation Stables, manage laundry hygiene, and ensure overall cleanliness.Prepare food, track water intake, oversee admittance and discharge of horses, and maintain accurate feeding and health records.Assist academic staff in training undergraduate and postgraduate students in animal welfare, husbandry, and behaviour.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to horse care, patient status, and facility management.About YouCompletion of Certificate II in Animal Studies or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training.Experience in the thoroughbred horse industry, including active horse husbandry and handling is preferred.Queensland open driver's license (Class C).Physical capability to perform all required duties, including handling, restraining, and assisting with anaesthetised horses.Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, students, clients, and external suppliers.Commitment to excellent client service, accurate record-keeping, and basic computer proficiency.Ability to work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate care and compassion for all animals.The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including, Right to work in Australia, criminal history and education checks.Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
