About Cyber Security NSW
Cyber Security NSW is a whole-of-government function located within in the Department of Customer Service. We are responsible for ensuring a cyber safe NSW. The protection of our systems and digital information is important because of the many essential services NSW Government provides including health, emergency services, and transport. Furthermore, the exciting digital transformation being undertaken across NSW Government requires similarly enhanced cyber security capabilities.
At the centre of this exciting and growing cyber capability, Cyber Security NSW is working across NSW Government to:
1. Create a whole-of-government integrated approach to managing cyber risk and responding to cyber security threats.
2. Increase cyber skills and awareness.
3. Understand the risks from cyber threats to our digital information and systems.
4. Set cyber security standards.
5. Ensure we are prepared if a damaging cyber incident occurs.
About the Role
Key accountabilities for the Cyber Security Analyst will include:
6. Develop, coordinate and maintain a schedule for discussions of vulnerabilities with NSW Government entities.
7. Engage in vulnerability discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Coordinate scheduled and targeted vulnerability and other technical assessments with appropriate teams.
9. Analyse and assess scan results to produce timely and actionable reporting for stakeholders.
10. Use and manage systems to track the remediation of discovered vulnerabilities.
11. Produce timely and actionable reporting for stakeholders.
12. Keep an up to date understanding of cyber security terminology and concepts.
13. Participate in projects across the broader team as required.
14. Think critically and have the ability to develop and innovate strategic solutions.
About You - To be successful in this role you will need to:
15. Have demonstrated strong experience (minimum 2 years experience) and knowledge of Information Technology, Information Security and/or Cyber Security, including the principles, concepts and current trends.
16. Have a technical background administering networks, servers and desktops (desirable, but not essential)
17. Understanding or management experience with vulnerability assessments and or penetration testing (desirable, but not essential)
18. Be able to adapt quickly, continually working to keep your knowledge and skills up to date.
19. Have well-developed verbal and written communication skills including stakeholder engagement and professional correspondence.
20. Have good analytical and investigative skills.
21. Be willing to work flexibly in response to cyber incidents, project and other requirements.
22. Be able to proactively manage your own workload and tasks.
23. Have relevant qualifications (undergraduate degree and or industry certifications) in IT and or cyber security related discipline and working knowledge of cyber security (highly desirable)
24. Have the ability to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance and willingness to undergo a police check.
