Position Overview The Financial Controller at Xplorate is a hands-on, strategic role responsible for managing all finance-related functions within the company. This role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, efficient transaction processing, and compliance with all regulatory standards. The position also plays a crucial part in supporting investor relations and facilitating strategic financial decision-making. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Provide financial analysis and insights to support business strategy and investor relations. Develop financial models to support decision-making and forecasting. Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and expense management. Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance. Cash management – tracking daily transactions, updating weekly forecasts to ensure funding levels remain adequate. Oversight of payroll and accounts payable functions provided by external bookkeeper. Continuous development and management of the budgeting and forecasting process. Collaborate with department heads to monitor and manage budgets effectively. Provide long term business plans to support drive for additional investment. Develop pricing strategies and unit economic analysis. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax obligations and R&D offsets. Liaise with external auditors and manage annual audit processes. Identify and mitigate financial risks within the organisation. Act as primary contact for the company on all insurance matters. Act as a trusted advisor to the Senior Management Team, providing data-driven insights and financial analysis. Assist in the creation of business cases and plans to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiencies. Work closely with department heads to establish financial and operational targets, monitor performance against these targets, and proactively address any variances. Support the team in aligning departmental goals with the company's broader financial objectives. Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy. Identify opportunities for cost reduction. Lead or support initiatives to implement new financial technologies or systems. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CA preferred. Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a growth-focused organisation. Strong technical skills, including proficiency in accounting software (particularly Xero) and Excel. Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Experience Experience in industries related to Aviation, UAV, technology, or infrastructure services. Familiarity with start-up / high growth environments. Attention to detail and accuracy. Strategic mindset with hands-on execution. Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
