The purpose of this role is to train towards becoming a multi-skilled technician, being able to complete tasks across a range of disciplines within a maintenance environment.Please note, this post will be subject to Standard DBS Check.Apprenticeship salary - please find attached document 'Apprenticeship Wage Guide'Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be required to undertake an Installation/Maintenance Technician apprenticeship for which time will be given to attend the course. Following completion of the apprenticeship, the post holder will have the skills and knowledge required to maintain both electrical and mechanical systems.Duties and Responsibilities:Planned preventative maintenance: Work to agreed standard operating procedures whilst undertaking planned preventative maintenance on electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.Reactive maintenance: Interrogates, identifies and rectifies faults on a range of electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring work is carried out to a high standard and in a safe manner.Installation of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems: The post holder will, where required, make modifications to existing systems, ensuring the work is undertaken to a high standard in line with relevant standards and regulations.Use of building management system: The post holder will be required to operate building management systems, being able to make changes to set points, understand and rectify active alarms states to ensure that all monitored systems are working within agreed specifications.Use of technical manuals and drawings: The post holder will be required to use building O&Ms and manufacturers literature to ensure systems are maintained in line with relevant standards and regulations.Use of information technology: The post holder will be required to use information technology during their duties, producing reports for operations and maintenance supervisors, locating technical literature, and communicating with management and customers.Use of hand and power tools: The post holder will be required to use hand and power tools throughout the course of their duties, ensuring safety and compliance with procedures.Access equipment: To ensure that work is carried out safely, the post holder will be required to use and operate a range of access equipment in line with training and procedures.Competent person: The post holder will be required to gain the qualification of competent person for various disciplines.Record keeping: The post holder will be required to maintain records of work completed, ensuring documentation is completed in a tidy and timely manner.Communication: The post holder will be required to utilise various communication methods suitable for the situation.Person SpecificationKnowledge & ExperienceAble to communicate with a range of people, in a way that is clear and understood.Demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal.Can plan, organise, and effectively prioritise tasks to achieve the required objectives.Can effectively manage own time and activity to meet deadlines.Demonstrates an understanding of the NHS.QualificationsEducated to GCSE Grade C/4 in English and Maths and/or equivalent qualification.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.Employer nameMersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
