The AMA offers a professional, collaborative, and purpose-driven work environment where you can make a significant impact.Your new role The Digital Communication and Engagement Specialist will develop and manage content for various digital platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging and alignment with the AMA's advocacy goals. Responsibilities include creating and implementing social media strategies to enhance engagement and reach, managing social media accounts, and analysing performance metrics. The specialist will collaborate with the Communications Team to design and execute communication campaigns supporting the AMA's initiatives and objectives.The role involves fostering and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including members, government bodies, and the general public, to ensure effective communication and advocacy. Additionally, the specialist will handle media enquiries, draft press releases, and coordinate media events to promote the AMA's activities and positions. They will support internal communication efforts to keep AMA staff and members informed about ongoing projects and initiatives, assist in developing and executing crisis communication plans, and monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will need to have:Versatile Communication Skills: Experience in corporate, public sector, or political communications. Excellent Writing: Ability to craft public-facing content like briefings, media releases, policy campaign material, website content, and reports. Media Relations: Experience in media relations, including coordinating "doorstops", campaign launches, and events, or a willingness to learn these skills. Digital Engagement: Proficiency in using digital channels to engage and communicate with key stakeholders. Tech Savvy: Proficient with digital tools and platforms, and adaptable to new technologies. Interpersonal Skills: Skilled at dealing and negotiating with a variety of stakeholders. Verbal Communication: Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role or equivalent experience. Political Insight: Understanding of federal politics, especially the health portfolio, is ideal.
