Minimum Qualifications Permanent Qualifications: Candidates must be licensed and currently a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. One year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.
Substitution: a bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of general post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master’s degree in nursing may substitute for two years of general post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Transfer Qualifications: Candidates must currently be a permanent Registered Nurse 2 or be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This Registered Nurse 2 works within the framework of a treatment team providing nursing services to individuals diagnosed developmental disabilities and their caretakers/families. They visit the individual's home to identify factors in the social, psychological, and physical environment which may contribute to this individual's disability; make recommendations for emergency or continuing care; suggest alternative treatment plans; teach caretakers/family methods of dealing with emergencies; and provide advice on the availability of medical, social, and housing facilities for the individual in the community. They intervene and administer emergency treatment; engage in treatment modalities such as health teaching, individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy or milieu therapy as appropriate; work with appropriate community agencies as necessary and insure a coordinated team treatment plan. They may supervise and counsel paraprofessional and professional personnel in health-related activities and participate in the staff development and teaching program of Broome DDSOO.
•Function in the role of Registered Nurse 2.
•Function as the Charge Nurse for Nursing Triage.
•Act as a triage nurse; accepting calls from the six-county catchment area and providing.
nursing guidance to direct care staff/LPNs, as needed.
•Perform other duties as assigned, details to be discussed during interview.
•Participate in agency committees.
•Other duties as assigned. Caseload will include healthcare management of Individuals.
