AEMO at the Heart of Energy
AEMO is Australia’s independent energy system and market operator and system planner. AEMO’s purpose is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable energy today, and enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this. We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection. Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.

The role involves taking a support role in several of the following areas:
System augmentation and project management
SCADA alarming and interface management
Managing gas quality and metering requirements
Gas safety case management and audit compliance
Gas planning and modelling
Maintenance coordination
Providing operational support to the Gas Control Room as required
What you will be doing
Providing support with modelling and conducting analysis of the capability of the gas networks, including the development of market impacting transmission constraints for the use in the DWGM (e.g. the sale of capacity certificates, determining safe-shut down quantities and real-time scheduling constraints). Assist in the development and improvement of gas quality measurement processes, ensure the safety of both the gas transmission system and the public by defining the limit on gas quality excursions and working with Production Facilities on the development of Gas Quality Monitoring Plans. Assist in the identification of gas metering data measurement problems, and implementation of data validation and substitution rules to ensure that missing or incorrect data is identified correctly and replaced with the most appropriate substitution for market settlement. Support the implementation of improvements or defect fixes to the SCADA system in collaboration with the gas control room. Assess the impact of preventative and corrective maintenance as well as augmentation work on system and market operations. Lead and project manage small DTS projects or provide support on larger projects by assessing the impacts of system augmentation projects on system security and operability, and attending HAZOP studies of new or changed DTS assets. Assist in the development of the AEMO Gas Safety Case, and provide support for safety case audits, risk assessments and identification of hazards within the Gas Operations Division. Provide analysis and input into Major written reports (e.g. the Victorian Gas Planning Reports) and/or author and lead Minor written reports (e.g. post incident/event reviews, compliance reports, technical papers, etc).
What you will bring to the role

Preferred experience of at least 2 years in engineering operations, maintenance, and design, development, or management of multi-discipline project. Preferred experience in:
The construction, maintenance or operation of oil and gas assets
In a gas regulatory environment
Gas flow measurement and/or gas quality measurements
An on-shift Gas Operations role
Experience with SCADA system or gas engineering modelling a distinct advantage. Experience with Power BI, Python or other data analytics tools are beneficial. Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise reports and procedures. Demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking and logic to solve diverse problems.
