About the role
Our Melbourne Employment, Safety and People team are currently looking for a Lawyer/Associate with approximately 3-6 years’ experience to join the team. This role will work with partners Catherine Dunlop and Dale McQualter predominately on safety matters. Working with a wide variety of clients across the public sector, emergency services, police, defence, health, retail, construction, not-for-profit and transport sectors, this role will advise on the following types of matters:
* Work health and safety (WHS), behavioural investigations and inquests, inquiries and Royal Commissions
* Addressing safety risks and developing safety systems and management reporting
* Employee mental health, safety and well-being issues and in addressing psychosocial hazards
* Bullying and sexual harassment matters

About you
In order to be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
* 3-6 years’ experience working as a lawyer or in in-house working either in employment or safety matters, or 3-6 years’ experience in disputes, regulation or criminal law with an interest in WHS safety and inquiries/inquests
* Have a client-focused approach with a keen interest in understanding the sector’s commercial and regulatory drivers
* Have the ability to demonstrate very good drafting skills and an eye for detail
* Interest in court work
* Aptitude in being a trusted adviser to clients, particularly during times of crisis
* Be an independent thinker, comfortable with learning new concepts quickly
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
