1. Join a committed team of VMO’s. Staff Specialists, JMO’s (Interns, Residents and Registrars) and bring your broad range of skills and expertise to the Lower Mid North Coast community. Close collaboration with two local private surgical Hospitals- Mayo Private Hospital in Taree and Forster Private Hospital (30 minutes South of Taree by Road).
2. Perform clinical services in General Medicine for inpatients and Emergency Department patients as required.
3. Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues.
4. Provide high quality, evidence based, and patient focused medical services to patient families and carers.
5. Have a commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health and previous involvement in undergraduate and/or post graduate educational programs.
6. Participate in after-hours services and rosters in General Medicine or as required by the service.
About you:
7. You will have a primary medical degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians with recent demonstrated clinical experience in General Medicine.

About the Hospital:
We have 180 beds and, within this, provide an excellent range of specialist inpatient services including General Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Intensive Care, Psychiatry, Renal, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesia, Urology and Oncology Services. Current medical subspecialty expertise available also includes Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Geriatrics, Palliative Care and Infectious Diseases. We serve the local coastal and inland communities of Taree, Forster, Tuncurry, Old Bar, Gloucester, Manning Point and surrounding district, approximately 100,000 people over 3,732 km2.
Stage 1 of the Manning Base Hospital redevelopment delivered a new, $40 million purpose-built facility. This included an eight-chair renal dialysis unit (and 2 chair Home Peritoneal Dialysis Training Unit), eight chair chemotherapy unit, six consultation spaces for visiting specialists, a new carpark for renal and chemotherapy patients and expansion of Medical Imaging Department complete with new MRI and a new hospital owned CT scanner replacing a privately owned machine. An additional $100 million has been committed to Stage 2 of the redevelopment, which is expected to commence in the near future.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
14. A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
15. Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in General Medicine.
16. Evidence of being a scholar, maintains medical professional development and has the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
17. Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
18. Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
