CORONADO GLOBAL RESOURCES is one of the world’s largest producers of high-quality metallurgical coal. Through our market-leading technology and processes, we operate some of the safest, cleanest and lowest-cost mines in the industry.
Curragh Mine, located close to the town of Blackwater, is one of the largest open-cut coal mines in the Queensland Bowen Basin. Curragh produces more than 12 million tonnes of coal per year with a mining fleet which includes 4 large draglines.
About the Role:
Join our dynamic team as a Mining Engineer Scheduling, where you’ll lead by effectively engaging in planning processes to deliver safe, stable, efficient and practical weekly and monthly schedules. You’ll seamlessly integrate mining processes to meet operational needs, aligning weekly schedules with monthly and annual budgets goals. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on production efficiency and safety outcomes.
What You’ll Do:
* Oversee and maintain monthly scheduling processes that produce high-quality outputs, ensuring seamless alignment with operational targets.
* Work with all relevant stakeholders collaboratively in the monthly planning process to develop and deliver a precise mine p schedule that aligns with monthly and budget targets. Critical to this function will ensure there is no coal flow gaps by identifying gaps ahead of time and provide alternatives solutions within the schedule and drive overall operational success.
* Collate weekly design inputs, equipment assumptions and volumes to create precise, actionable mine schedules that align with monthly and budget targets—key to ensuring smooth operational execution.
* Drive the development of streamlined processes and systems that guarantee high-quality, reliable weekly schedules, empowering efficient and effective operations weekly.
* Conduct ongoing compliance reconciliations against monthly schedules, driving continuous improvement and optimising our operations.
What You’ll Bring:
* Knowledge of open-cut coal operations and experience with Drill & Blast, Truck & Shovel, Dozer Push, or Dragline Mining Systems.
* Operational exposure to open-cut mining environments.
* Proficiency in mining software such as SPRY, Deswik, or Vulcan (or similar).
* A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field (Civil, Surveying, Process, Mechanical etc.).
* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* A great team player and innovator!
What we offer
With a short 15-minute drive to work every day and 2.5 hours from the Capricorn Coast, there are not many mine sites that can boast a quicker daily commute, or the ability to reside on the coast spending work time in company accommodation and days off on the beach.
If your preference is to live outside of Central Queensland, the company will fund flights between Brisbane and Emerald, along with car hire to get to and from Emerald airport the mine.
