The College is seeking to employ a professional and enthusiastic Boarding Coordinator/s. The position is ideally full time with a regular roster and includes overnight passive duty.A part-time alternative may be considered.Staff accommodation is available for exclusive use whilst on duty. The Role The Boarding Coordinator role supports the Dean of Boarding with the following: Ensuring the well-being, safety, pastoral and academic care of the Boarder Possessing knowledge of each Boarder and their families Facilitating the behaviours expected of adolescent girls living in community Supervision of the day to day routines of boarding life Maintaining accurate records and rolls Possession of a full knowledge of the Coordinators Handbook, associated procedures, and the College Staff Handbook Facilitation of academic progress via supervised study Administer medications as required Maintaining good relations and communication with parents Ensuring the amenity of environment is clean and tidy Liaison as required with the Dean of Boarding and other ancillary staff Timely communication to the Deans for Junior, Middle and Senior School Undertake evacuation and lock-down drills and ensure WHS issues are dealt with Provide assistance in planning and implementing the weekend activity program for the Boarders, and the in-weekends Maintenance of documentation, including the daily report Being available before the beginning of each term and the end of each term, as required, for set up and pack up of Boarders Possession of an understanding of the College's Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct, Bullying Policy and assist in the implementation of the College's Workplace, Health and Safety Policy Willingness to undertake other duties, on occasion, as required to ensure the smooth running of Boarding House Being prepared to undertake an Induction, training in the College Procedures and Policies essential to Boarding, and complete the Duty of Care training provided by Australian Boarding Schools Association Qualifications / Certifications Current Working with Children Check (Employee) (WWCC) Current HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid) and HLTAID009 (Provide CPR) (or willingness to undertake) Youth Mental Health First Aid (or willingness to undertake) Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates (or willingness to undertake) Driver Licence (preferred but not essential) Duty of Care Certification from ABSA (Australian Boarding Schools Association) (or willingness to undertake) Other relevant qualifications (e.g.nursing, teaching, youth work, residential care, adolescent health) Knowledge, Competencies, and Experience Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Superior interpersonal and negotiation skills High level information, communication and technology (ICT) skills Capacity to maintain a duty of care focus at all times Ability to work within a team structure and autonomously Understanding of adolescent development, particularly with respect to girls Ability to identify Work Health and Safety needs of the Boarding House Capacity to support the policies, processes, procedures and routines of the Boarding House Key Attributes Commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school Behave in a manner that reflects the vision, mission and values of St Vincent's College Possess a genuine liking for living in a community Have a sincere commitment to the care of adolescent girls Warm, respectful, compassionate and positive attitude Possess high expectations of self and others Ability to be an outstanding role model for the Boarders Negotiation and mediation skills and ability to defuse escalating situations Sensitivity to confidential conversations Ability to remain calm under pressure Ability to recognise "teachable moments" and use these to support the personal growth of the girls Commitment to personal and professional learning and development Skill in prioritising and multitasking Competency in the use of digital technology Application Process: All applications are to be accompanied by an Application for Employment form (available from the College website).
