About The Role
The purpose of the Fitout Designer position is to provide and support the Design and Drafting of a vessel from concept through to delivery, on time. Provide output which satisfies the standards of Austal, the client, and regulatory authorities.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities Include:
* Produces accurate information and documentation, which meets all procedural and auditable requirements.
* Meets work deadlines and ensures construction deliverables are not compromised or missed.
* Remains well acquainted with the task schedule and regularly checks progress and upcoming deliverables.
* Demonstrates a high attention to detail.
* Ensures work produced is of a high quality and consistent with Austal and Design & Engineering standards.
* Effectively communicates through drawings, verbal, and written means to all necessary parties.
* Exhibits a proactive attitude toward innovation and improvement and actively seeks alternate methods of performing tasks.
Essential Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
* Interior Design/Outfitting qualifications or equivalent.
* Design or Interior Design Background.
* Experience in Design within the Marine Industry.
* Solid understanding of Production methods and the practical application of design.
* Preparation of design and drawings including presentations, specifications, and reports.
* Proficient in Design software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft office suite.
* Technical knowledge of Fitout products.
* Design support for production, commissioning, and delivery.
* Maintains an efficient filing system and ensures that all work is stored in appropriate locations.
* Good understanding of data and document management principles.
Desirable:
* Experience working within a similar position, designing the elements of all Fitout/Outfitting elements on both, aluminium & steel, high speed vessels.
* A basic understanding of typical ship mechanical systems, to the extent of how they work, and the interface between the structural, electrical, and mechanical systems.
* A sound practical and working knowledge of regulatory bodies' rules and regulations, and the ability to liaise and communicate with them as necessary.
* Construction White Card.
