Our client is looking for a Infrastructure Engineer to look after operation for departmental Data Centres. They need someone who can take ownership of the current project to replace the ageing UPS and AC in their primary Data Centre location.
About the Role: The ICT Operations Branch provides ICT support and underpinning infrastructure services to the department and the Ministers' Offices, ensuring all staff in the department and MOs have access to stable and secure technology.
The ICT Networks & Infrastructure Platforms section falls within the ICT Operations Branch. The Infrastructure Platforms team is responsible for the management of all data centres, vitalisation, automation, storage, backup and restore capability. The team is also responsible for providing after hours on-call support for our infrastructure.
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for operation of the two departmental Data Centers. You will take ownership of the current project to replace the ageing UPS and AC in our primary Data Centre location.
Key duties and responsibilities: Oversee managing daily operations of the primary Data Centre, including UPS and AC monitoring. Handle rack management, cabling and space optimisation. Co-ordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades and compliance. Monitor system performance and utilisation through various systems including vROPs and EcoStruxure DCO/DCE. Enforce security and best practice frameworks to ensure the best possible uptime. Support the project to upgrade on-prem data centre infrastructure, with project management and installation works carried out by third parties. About you: Ability to deliver day-to-day operation of a Data Centre: Rack management and cabling experience. Co-ordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades and compliance. Monitor system performance and utilisation through various systems including vROPs and EcoStruxure DCE/DCO. Enforce security and best practice frameworks to ensure the best possible uptime. Demonstrated ability in delivery of Data Centre upgrades around AC and UPS, including: Demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to undertake research and analysis of, current market offerings. Ability to provide informed and technically sound insight into pros and cons of differing systems and technologies. Ability to produce design, build and operations documents for processes and procedures. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills to work with skilled technical people, including making presentations to staff and stakeholders and coaching staff. Working knowledge of Government security frameworks up to a Protected level, specifically regarding Essential 8 and the PSPF. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply.
