Agricultural Economist Role Overview

As a Senior Agricultural Economist, you will lead innovative projects to deliver high-quality economic evaluations and communicate information targeting improved profitability and sustainability. You will also develop and maintain collaborative relationships in multi-disciplinary teams with landholders, industry organisations, colleagues, natural resource management groups, universities, and other government agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and use bio-economic models to assess agricultural production activities, natural resource management initiatives, and policy analysis.
* Utilise and provide training to stakeholders on DPI economic decision support tools.
* Use computer and scientific technologies to analyse data and produce reports in a timely manner to meet project milestones and management needs.
* Provide advice and direction to management and stakeholders to improve service delivery and ensure quality outcomes.
* Lead projects to deliver high-quality economic evaluations and communicate information targeting improved profitability and sustainability.
* Supervise and mentor staff to meet project requirements and assist in the professional development of regional economists.
Requirements:
* Hold a Bachelor's degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in economics, business, or agriculture (including economics/business).
* Have experience dealing with the agricultural sector and primary producers.
* Be an Australian citizen, hold permanent residency status, or possess a visa allowing you to work in Australia.
