About You You are a veteran or a senior security professional with extensive experience in security operations, particularly in handling and training K9 assets. Your background may include service in the Defence Force, Police, or correctional services, and you understand the critical importance of effective K9 deployment in maintaining public order and safety. Your Role & Responsibilities K9 Training and Deployment: • Manage and train K9 units for public order operations. • Conduct risk assessments for K9 deployment and ensure the well-being of the K9s. • Utilise K9 units for presence and protection during operations. Operational Support and Coordination: • Work closely with the PORU Team Leader and Communicator to ensure seamless operations. • Coordinate with external stakeholders to support the overall mission of the PORU. Community Engagement and Public Safety: • Engage with the community to enhance public safety and foster positive relationships. • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Reporting and Documentation: • Maintain comprehensive records of K9 training, deployments, and engagements. • Provide detailed, accurate reports to inform strategic decisions. Experience Required • Extensive experience in security operations and K9 handling roles, preferably as a Defence Force veteran or a senior security professional. • Proven expertise in training and managing K9 units. • Experience in conducting risk assessments and operational deployments. • Strong understanding of public safety and regulatory standards. • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Practical experience in leading significant projects and change management initiatives. • Background in law enforcement, correctional services, or other fields is highly desirable.
