We have an exciting opportunity for a Food Safety Advisor to join our villages in the Bowen Basin, a couple of hours inland from Mackay.
The primary focus of the role is to support and assistance in facilitating the management, co-ordination and control of the Food Safety obligations and maintain compliance with the respective state and local regulations, accreditations, and standards within Civeo.
The role requires strong support to and from the Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager, Senior Food Safety Advisor and the HSQE Team whilst regularly liaising with all levels of management and assuring that the site and catering management as well as the HSQE team are aware of the Food Safety Issues within the business.
Primary responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Food Safety Management Systems within the company.
2. Assist with Civeo’s audit program, which includes 3rd party audits where required.
3. Assist in the development and maintenance of food safety and quality assurance procedures and work instructions.
4. Work closely with operational management, catering managers and food handlers at all sites to ensure food safety procedures are followed and required records are maintained.
5. Assist the Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager or their delegate to maintain compliance with respective legislation, codes of practice, standards, accreditations, and the adoption of good management practices to minimise food safety risks and ensure customer expectations are met.
6. Aid in the development of internal audits as well as conduct internal audits (deliveries, cold storage, food preparation, food service.
7. Aid in the development of supplier audits as well as conduct supplier audits, if required.
8. Provide training to management and employees regarding the food safety program, operating procedures, cleaning, maintenance, pest control, personnel hygiene etc.
9. Conduct microbiological testing/ sampling as per the microbiological testing program to ensure food safety standards are met.
10. Ensure current certification requirements are met
11. Assist with the non-conformance process for food suppliers.
12. Investigate customer complaints and work with relevant staff to find a root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
13. Report on the performance of the Food Safety management system to the Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager including recommendations for improvement.
Knowledge and Experience:
14. Knowledge of microbiology, food safety issues and controls.
15. Understanding of food legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
16. Experience with HACCP and ISO 22000.
17. Sound knowledge of the Quality Assurance processes and/ or ISO 9001 Standard.
18. Audit experience.
19. Experience preparing and delivering training programs.
20. Professional experience in a similar work environment is desirable.
21. Experience in Catering and/ or Hospitality is highly desirable
Professional Qualifications:
22. A Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related discipline.
23. Auditor qualifications are highly desirable.
24. Training qualifications are desirable.
