Queensland Health (Organisation site )Health, Safety & Wellness, Human Resources & Engagement, THHS The Senior Health & Safety Advisor is an essential role in providing technical specialist advice, to support all aspects of work health and safety practice, legislative duties and management systems throughout the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). The role will play a key part in the development of a resilient safety culture through successful programs designed to achieve higher levels of safety performance outcomes. The role's primary focus will be to support the development and effective implementation of Health and Safety Management System changes to enable ongoing minimum compliance with legal duties and will contribute to the THHS's long-term goal in achieving a sustained reduction in incident frequency and severity of injuries. The key success indicators for the HSW team are that highly capable and effective health and safety practices and management are entrenched as core business practice across the THHS. What's on Offer? Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: Understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and other associated Acts, Regulations, Standards and policies, and experience in implementing and applying systems and procedures to achieve and maintain legislative compliance in large complex organisations. Understanding of project and change management methodologies, principles, practices, and ability to undertake research, training, policy development and evaluation, which lead to business improvement outcomes. Proven ability and experience in auditing, investigating, and identifying risks and causative factors around Work Health and Safety risks, leading to flexible, responsive, client-focused solutions on health and safety and/or injury management issues. Well-developed written and oral communication skills. Previous experience in managing a team to achieve small project objectives. Requirements A Diploma in Work Health and Safety would be highly desirable. Experience in a similar role providing work health and safety and/or rehabilitation and return to work services in a large complex organisation would be highly regarded. This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Travel within the THHS or State will be necessary to fulfil this role, including obligations to complete training, participate in networks, or to conduct health and safety audits/investigations.
