The Role The EL 1 Combat Systems Engineering position works within the Amphibious Combat and Sealift Systems Program Office (ACSSPO) Combat Systems Engineering team, with a workforce that consists of uniformed ADF members, APS employees and contractor personnel.
ACSSPO provides through life sustainment and engineering change management of LHD (HMAS ADELAIDE & CANBERRA), LSD (HMAS CHOULES) and LLC (LHD Landing Craft) vessels.
The Combat Systems team is responsible for providing engineering services and advice for communication, sensor, combat management and weapon systems aspects of LHD, LSD and LLC vessels.
This is either directly or through engagement with other areas of the Royal Australian Navy Engineering organisation.
The successful applicant will undertake a number of duties including but not limited to: Direct, coordinate and exercise functional authority for planning, organisation control, integration and delivery of complex to very complex engineering services and products.
Lead and manage engineering and technical staff in accordance with Defence policies and organisational objectives.
Implement engineering processes and activities identified in the Engineering Management Plan (EMP) and subordinate technical plans.
Manage and evaluate engineering projects ensuring key performance measures are met.
Perform design assurance or acceptance representative duties in accordance with the delegations issued by the relevant Technical Regulatory Authority or liaise with those who hold the required technical delegations.
Manage the preparation of objective evidence that the materiel being delivered by the suppliers meets the requirements of the Technical Regulatory Authority.
Investigate and report on any materiel defects, non-conformances, engineering change proposals, or applications for concessions on materiel requirements, and develop recommendations to address the issue.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
