How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne:
Senior Adviser, City Communications works within the Customer Experience and Communications division, and drives an integrated communications approach across business divisions, linked Council themes and portfolios. Supporting the Manager, City Communications, this role business partners with select areas of the organisation - providing communications expertise and ensures a cross-functional approach alongside the digital, external and internal communications teams for the delivery of communication activities aligned to agreed priorities. In this role you will be required to provide insights and expert advice on communications projects across the branch, establishing relationships and working closely with colleagues across the organisation.
Responsibilities will include planning, delivering and measuring the effectiveness of communications activities for high profile and complex Council priorities and projects. Working collaboratively within the branch, this role ensures delivery of relevant, accurate and timely communication planning and advice to a high standard across diverse audience groups. This role acts as a mentor for more junior team members in the Customer Experience and Communications division.
What You Will Bring (Selection Criteria)
* Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to prepare a variety of communication tools across traditional and digital channels quickly, to a high standard and for a variety of audiences.
* Sound experience in a similar role developing and delivering proactive and reactive integrated communication activities in a complex environment involving multiple stakeholders.
* Project planning skills across the range of communications disciplines, including community and stakeholder relations, media, and social media.
* Excellent risk radar with the ability to recognise potential issues and flag them in a timely manner.
* Strong team player with developed leadership skills and an ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence and sound judgement while collaborating and cooperating on decisions and initiatives.
