About the Role Based in Melbourne, Victoria, this position is responsible for undertaking research-related support activities associated with the Australian Research Council Discovery Project titled 'Locating LGBTIQ+ youth in the archive: Telling new stories for belonging', working with a team of Chief Investigators from the University of South Australia, Australian National University and La Trobe University.
The Chief Investigators are: Associate Professor Daniel Marshall (UniSA) Professor Mary Lou Rasmussen (Australian National University) Associate Professor Timothy Jones (La Trobe University) The key purpose of this role is to conduct archival research at the Australian Queer Archives regarding LGBTIQA+ young people and youth histories in Australia.
Other associated tasks will be involved, including establishing a digital database of research material, and other project-related tasks including website development, administration, reporting, and presentation.
Frequent on-site archival research will be required (archives based in Melbourne; interstate or overseas travel and travel within Victoria may be required).

Essential Skills and Experience Postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to the research and/or relevant experience i.e.
working in archives, knowledge of LGBTIQ+ histories or knowledge of histories of youth and childhood Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated through written work such as research reports and publications, and excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and external partners Excellent organisational and time management skills, demonstrating ability to manage multiple priorities and demands in the context of research, independently and as part of a research team Ability to plan and conduct archival research, liaising with relevant stakeholders.
