This position will be working from Nowra Administration Building, as part of a friendly and hard-working team committed to the safety of local properties registered on Council's Fire Safety Program. The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position. DutiesReporting directly to the Lead – Certification, the focus of this position is to: Develop and coordinate implementation and operations of the fire safety audit program. Assist in the administration of applicable Acts to achieve the best built environment, health, welfare and well-being of the whole community and ensure achievement of the objectives of Council's Management Plan and Council's levels of customer service. Undertake assessment of Construction Certificates and Complying Development Certificates as required and prepare detailed compliance reports. Undertake critical stage inspections in accordance with the level of accreditation. Provide for the protection, promotion, and improvement of the natural and built environment, and public amenity and safety to achieve the objectives of Council's Community Strategic Plan. Provide professional advice and guidance to the public on development related matters. Manage, assess and process development assessments which range in complexity and value. Skills & ExperienceIn order to be successful in the position, you will possess: Grade 9 Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor – Building Inspector. Undertaking or completed training to achieve a registered Class of building surveyor – Building Inspector with NSW Fair Trading. Grade 10 Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor – restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings). Registered as a certifier to attain a registered Class of building surveyor – restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings) with NSW Fair Trading. Grade 11 Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or equivalent to attain a registered Class of building surveyor – restricted (all classes of buildings) or Class of building surveyor – unrestricted. Registered as a certifier at Class of building surveyor – restricted (all classes of buildings) or Class of building surveyor – unrestricted with NSW Fair Trading.
