We also have a strong focus on gender balance within the organisation and encourage women to apply.About your new roleKey responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:Lead development of approaches for navigating emerging challenges/opportunities to our strategic direction so that we can bring informed and early perspectives to conversations with government and other external stakeholders.Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with senior personnel within ACT Government directorates, regulators and advisory bodies to enable efficient management of issues in often complex work environments with multiple stakeholders, competing interests and requirements. This position is the relationship owner for the ACT Government’s Office of Water and CMTEDD (Regional Planning) on the water resource and policy aspects of cross-border supply; and is the Managing Director’s delegate for the ACT & Region Catchment Management Coordination Group (CMCG), and attends/briefs other external forums as appropriate.Engage with key stakeholders in government and advisory bodies to ensure possible implications of government decisions on Icon Water planning, operations and water resources are understood. This includes developing external positions/submissions for clearance by the Icon Water Executive.Work closely with the ACT Government to establish legislative and regulatory frameworks to enable the achievement of social, economic, environment and cultural outcomes over the long term.Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with various internal Icon Water stakeholders to understand the business implications of government strategy and policy to determine possibilities, obstacles and desired outcomes.Manage various projects and initiatives relating to strategy, policy or regulatory areas to determine the current state or problem, identify and assess new options and execute solutions to attain the desired state or resolution.Keep abreast of relevant water industry practices, technologies and regulatory environments to maintain currency of industry knowledge for incorporation into Icon Water strategic decisions and initiatives.Prepare and deliver presentations to management, the Executive, the Board and sometimes external stakeholders on key strategic initiatives and policy.Prepare analysis, management presentations and undertake industry research on relevant planning and policy activities.Manage other Business Strategy and Policy team projects, initiatives or process improvements as required.Other duties as required within the employee's skill, competence and training.Our ideal candidate will possess:Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as engineering, science, policy, environment, economics or equivalent.Extensive experience (5 years plus) in the water industry, urban planning or water resources.Demonstrated collaboration skills to work effectively across the organisational structure to deliver required outcomes.Significant experience presenting complicated business and policy information in a succinct and clear manner to all levels of management.Experience in delivering policy analysis including ability to analyse complex scenarios and provide astute/concise analysis and corporate commentary, ideally within the utilities industry.Significant experience in engaging and influencing a diverse set of external stakeholders in a complex policy environment, including government policy makers and regulators.Experience in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.Ability to manage your own workload and balance priorities.Experience assessing the impact of strategy, policy or regulatory requirements and implementing resultant business changes.
