Contribute to total patient management by assisting Allied Health Professionals (AHP) in duties of patient care and contribute to the efficient operation of the clinical service by undertaking other nontreatment activities as required. Duties are completed under the direct or indirect supervision of a qualified Allied Health professional.
There are various services across SCHHS that employ Allied Health Assistants (AHAs)/Clinical Assistants (CAs). Many of these services support adult patient groups. These services are based in acute inpatient wards and ICU, subacute rehabilitation services, outpatient speciality clinics and community-based services. The exception to this is the outpatient Audiology Clinic who support both adult and paediatric clients.
In the various settings a range of AHPs delegate tasks to AHAs/CAs including Social Work, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Dietitians, Audiologists and Orthoptists.
