About the role As a member of the HSE Department, the Case Manager – Injury Management (IM) is the primary Austal representative responsible for managing the injury management of our workers, and supporting their recovery and return to work. The Case Manager will administer the Austal injury management programs including; Early Intervention, low-risk workers compensation claims management, and Non-Work-Related Medical Restrictions (personal health) cases. Complex cases will be referred to a Rehabilitation Specialist. The Case Manager - IM will also track our performance against organisational indicators and ensure that our document procedures remain current and up to date in our business management system (BMS). They will liaise with our Workers Compensation Insurer and Broker, ensuring compliance matters are actioned within agree timeframes. Key objectives & responsibilities include: Proactively initiate, co-ordinate and monitor workplace rehabilitation programs for non-complex cases. Facilitate early medical intervention for injured or ill workers, supported by the Austal EIP Program. Engage with Rehabilitation Specialists (or Rehabilitation Provider appointed by the Insurer) for all complex cases. Co-ordinate the employer's responses to requests for information about the worker, their injury or illness, and their rehabilitation. Facilitate and support managers and supervisors to implement the Austal Non-Work- Related Injury/Illness Program for employees with personal health injuries or illness. Monitor the company performance of injury management. Compile reports and analyse injury trends on Workers Compensation and Early intervention Program performance outcomes. Accountable for the timely and accurate processing of payment of workers compensation and insurer reimbursements. Develop and continuously improve Injury Management systems and administration process for all states/WorkCover jurisdictions. Required Skills / Experience / Attributes: WorkCover Accredited Return To Work Coordinator Training Current Drivers Licence and car. Relevant case management experience in an injury management and/or return to work role (minimum 3 years). Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and contribute effectively to team objectives. Confident communicator, who excels in developing relationships with all stakeholders. Sound analytical skills, to understand workers compensation business trends. Strong time management and organisation skills. Broad knowledge of workers compensation and return-to-work principles.
