The incidence of Kidney Disease in the Kimberley is one of the highest in Australia. Chronic Kidney disease (CKD) and End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) incidence within the Aboriginal population of the Kimberley greatly exceeds the national burden of disease. Dialysis prevalence for this region has more than tripled in the last decade and is increasing at a much faster rate than in the rest of Western Australia (WA).
About the OpportunityKimberley Renal Services now has an opportunity for a dedicated Dialysis Registered Nurse - Level 1 to join their KRS team in Derby, WA, on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Renal Service Manager, you will manage a client caseload and deliver culturally safe nursing care in accordance with unit protocols and best practice guidelines. Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Supervision to new staff and assist in their educationProvide holistic approach to client care, contributing to the multidisciplinary team and making referrals as needed.Takes a Shift Coordinator roleContributes to the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement at the Renal Health CentreAbout YouTo be successful in this position, you will need to be eligible for national registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), along with advanced renal clinical skills and experience in the renal field (including acute and in centre dialysis). In this fast-paced role, you must have the ability to function effectively in emergency and high-stress situations in a changing work environment, while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and work ethic. You will also have well-developed interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills and be competent in the use of computer programs.
You will also be committed to the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control, acting in a culturally appropriate manner at all times.
While not essential, candidates with at least 18 months current experience in haemodialysis nursing or working towards a Certificate in Nephrology will be held in high regard.
Please note: To be eligible for this role, you will be required to hold a current 'C' Class Driver's Licence and your employment will also be subject to a National Police Clearance.
