Supporting people on an individual basis may require:
Providing personal care, e.g., showering, dressing, transferring (manual transfer or hoist transfer), hair care, and make-up
Complex health support: PEG feeding, bowel and continence care, administering medication.
Meal preparation: assisting clients to prepare their breakfast, lunch or dinner and/or assistance with eating.
Domestic assistance: may include bed making, general cleaning, washing dishes, doing laundry cooking and any reasonable request.
Community access: assisting in the community, including when shopping, at events, family occasions, and social outings.
Transport: assistance travelling to and from shopping, specialised classes, events, appointments, work or school
Assisting individuals to achieve their goals.
Documentation and report writing - online.
Offering and supporting choice and control to all individuals
Basic administration tasks
LAAS is currently looking for staff who are able to fill afternoon/sleepover shifts, over a 7-day schedule, starting at 3pm and completing the shift at 9am the following day, including a passive sleepover allowance.About YouWith a commitment to the rights of people with disabilities and a person-centered, strengths-based approach, you will be enthusiastic about supporting people with disabilities to improve their well-being, quality of life, and community connections. We are looking for Disability Support Workers who are available for the afternoon/night shifts, reliable, punctual and have a strong work ethic. You need to be diligent, thorough, and be able to work effectively as part of a team. Do you have talents or hobbies outside of Support Work that you’re passionate about and could be put to good use helping develop the skills of our clients?If so, we’d love to hear from you! These activities may include personal training/health and fitness, performing arts (singing/dancing), arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, barista and hospitality, technology, or any other skills that our clients may enjoy learning.In addition to the above, you will have/be:Essential

NDIS Workers Screening Check (or ability to obtain)
First Aid Certificate
Australian Driver's License
Up to date COVID-19 vaccination status
Desirable
A recognised qualification in Disability or another relevant field
A minimum 1+ years’ experience in a previous Support Worker position
Mental Health First Aid certification
Training in human services related disciplines, including Infection Control, Medication Awareness, and bowel care/continence.
