We take pride in creating a nurturing and fulfilling work environment.We offer the following benefits:Annual product allowance for our award-winning products.Professional development budget to help all team members skill-up and to grow with us.Health & Wellness perks, including an Employee Assistance Program, a Health & Wellness Subsidy, and annual team wellness days.Hybrid working environment with a beautiful HQ in Richmond with a rooftop and panoramic city views and a warehouse/design studio in Kensington where the exciting design process takes place.Home office equipment subsidy for hybrid and remote employees.A commitment to corporate, social, and environmental responsibility, as a B-Corp and Climate Neutral Certified brand.Role objectivesOversee product development from prototyping to mass manufacturing.The Product Design Engineer will work closely with our Design Team and our Manufacturers to bring new products to life.Key Responsibilities & Duties Include:Maintaining project documentation such as drawings and specifications, BOMs, quotations, QA & QC specifications & test results etc.Updating and maintaining project timelines and working with suppliers to keep projects on-track.To problem-solve and propose potential solutions to overcome timeline challenges during product development.New Product DevelopmentCollaborating with our Design team during concept development phases to help steer solutions towards manufacturable, durable, and reliable design directions.Refine CAD and tech specs.Oversee & guide manufacturers on 3D modelling and prototyping.Working closely with our manufacturing partners to troubleshoot and solve DFM (Design for Manufacture) problems, travelling to and visiting manufacturers when required.Reviewing prototypes/samples, document revisions and solving unexpected challenges.Cost-engineering to balance cost/quality/customer expectation.Quality AssuranceDefining product quality and performance testing standards that ensure our products function seamlessly and reliably for our users.Carry out QA testing in-house OR work with our CN quality team to test and verify product quality on-site.Mass ProductionOversee and supervise the production of new products OR new suppliers, including the following stages (On-site where necessary): Tooling, Engineering pilots, Pilot productions, Mass productions.Enforce the agreed production timeline with the manufacturer.Provide solutions to production issues.Manage sample shipments and sample tracking log.Quality ControlDefine QC specifications and align quality expectations with manufacturers.Oversee and enforce factory IQC where required to minimize risk of schedule delay.Work with our CN Quality team to conduct QC inspections on mass produced goods.ComplianceWork with 3rd party lab to conduct necessary compliance testing and certification.Supply Chain ManagementCoordinate 3rd party audits and/or conduct internal audits of factories/suppliers where required.Maintain effective business relationships with all CN factories/suppliers.Who We're Looking For:Proficiency in English & Mandarin, verbal and written.A tertiary qualification in Industrial Design or Product Design Engineering.Proven experience of 3+ years in a similar role.Proficiency in Solidworks, Adobe Suite, MS Excel / Google Sheets.Model-making experience.Good documentation and communication skills - Photography and Video for sample reviews.Good understanding of mass-manufactured product development such as Prototyping techniques, Mass manufacturing processes, QA, QC etc.Experienced in the development of mass manufactured small consumer goods. Experience working with manufacturers.Experience working with soft-goods (textiles / cut & sew) or hard goods (injection moulding / metal moulding & stamping) - ideally you have both!Experience in the field of QA & QC is highly regarded.Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, senior management, and suppliers (model shops, factories etc.).Good time management skill with the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment.Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient while managing multiple projects.Ability to respond well to direction and adjust workflow when requested.Teamwork and excellent communication skills are a must.How to Apply: If you think you may be the one, all you need to do is send through your CV and Portfolio, alongside a cover letter including the answers to the following questions:Our manufacturer has informed us that the way that we’ve designed our products has led the cost of goods to be higher than target.
