The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. They also need to be able to competently use power and hand tools, equipment and machinery.The following is also required: To possess and produce evidence of a current working with children's check.To always work within the policies of Wyndham Central College.To be aware of Occupational Health and Safety requirements noting that all duties must be carried out to comply with current OHS legislation.Able to work as part of a team or individually.Sound and safe working knowledge of hand and power tools.To have knowledge of and a keen personal interest in maintenance work.Basic mechanical knowledge to assist in minor repairs to gardening equipment.Current Test/Tag certification and a driver's license would be advantageous.Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuilding maintenance and repairs, including small carpentry, plastering, plumbing and painting jobs and other tasks that do not require a licenced tradesperson.General cleaning, graffiti and rubbish removal as required.Receive and assess maintenance requests as directed by the Facilities Manager, assessing and prioritising workloads.Implement routine maintenance procedures as directed.Ability to climb ladders to access roof spaces for the purposes of cleaning gutters and retrieval of sporting equipment.Be capable in assisting in or solo movement of college furniture as required.Perform good quality corrective and preventative maintenance work.To assist with garden and ground maintenance when required.To ensure all equipment and machinery are stored securely and cleaned after use.Report any repairs required to the Facilities Manager.To keep the gardens, thoroughfares and footpaths clear and free from litter.Always be courteous to staff and not liaise with the students at the College.To follow the directions given by the Facilities Manager/Assistant Principal and other duties as directed by the Principal.Child Safe StandardsVictorian government schools are child safe environments.
