Location: Pilbara Region, Western Australia (6 km West of Newman)Company: UGL – BHP Shutdown Mt WhalebackEmployment Type: CasualDuration: Approx. 4 Months with likely ongoing worksAbout the RoleUGL is seeking an experienced and dedicated Construction Superintendent to oversee a substantial shutdown located in the Pilbara region, 6 kilometres west of Newman. This role is pivotal to ensuring the successful completion of our project, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesWork with the UGL site project team in delivering the project.Oversee daily operations on the construction site, including coordination with client, UGL supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers.Ensure compliance with W.A. mining safety regulations and company policies.Manage project productivity against the forecast schedule.Feedback project progress to site engineer.Conduct regular site inspections.Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site promptly and effectively.Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, providing updates on progress.Maintain accurate records of site activities, incidents, and changes.RequirementsProven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role.Extensive knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and HSE guidelines.Strong leadership and supervisory skills.Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.Ability to read and interpret “Issued for Construction” drawings and technical documents.Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.Proven track record of successfully managing SMP teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.Relevant certifications or qualifications in SMP-related disciplines.Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.Prior experience in the Pilbara region or remote areas is highly desirable.QualificationsQualifications in project management, mechanical engineering, or substantial SMP background.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a lead role in heavy construction.Valid driver's license.Relevant safety certifications (White Card, First Aid, etc.)What We OfferCompetitive hourly rate.Accommodation and transportation allowances for the duration of the project.An opportunity to work on an exciting project within a dynamic team.Ongoing project work.Experience in one of Australia's most iconic regions.What makes you right for UGLGenuine concern for safety.Ability to provide a safe, supportive and positive workplace.Capacity to flourish in a high-performance environment.An innovative mindset and a willingness to challenge the norm.A belief that success and value are driven by real teams where everyone has a role to play.About UsUGL is well-known and respected for providing end-to-end engineering, construction and maintenance services within, rail and transport, communications and technology systems, oil and gas, power, renewables and resources, water and defence markets.
